Those three numbers decide almost everything about how you carry this gun. The 8.5 inch overall length means the muzzle sits low, which is good news for concealment because the barrel hides in the leg of your trousers instead of printing at your waistband. The 5.4 inch height is the part that gives you away: a tall grip is what pushes out a shirt, so a claw and a slightly forward cant matter more on a 92FS than on a subcompact. A Kydex holster wraps the slide and the trigger guard, so a one-slot or three-slot rail on the dust cover of an A1 or A3 does not change the part of the gun the shell grips. That is why you do not need to hunt for a rail-specific holster unless you are actually hanging a light off the rail. The M9A4 gets its own mold because the optics-ready slide changes the profile at the rear.

Sixteen dollars buys more concealment on a 92FS than any other change you can make. The claw catches the inside of your belt and levers the grip of the gun toward your body, which is exactly the problem a 5.4 inch tall grip creates. It bolts onto the 92FS IWB, the M9 IWB, the M9A4 IWB and the 92 Compact IWB, all of which are tagged Claw Compatible. If you are buying one accessory with your holster, buy this.
Best for: Appendix carry, and anyone whose grip prints through a shirt.
What Actually Matters When Buying
Material. Kydex holds its shape, so retention stays consistent and you can reholster one handed without the mouth collapsing. Ours is 0.08 inch, which adds almost nothing to the 1.5 inch width of the gun. A soft holster on a 33 ounce gun collapses under its own weight.
Retention. Adjustable beats fixed. Every Kydex shell here uses a Posi-Click device you tune with a hex key, so you set how hard the gun comes out rather than accepting whatever the mold gave you. You want an audible click on reholster.
Adjustability. Cant from -5 to +20 degrees is the range that matters on a full size gun. Appendix wants more forward cant than hip carry, and a 92FS at 5 o'clock wants more again to keep the grip from riding up.
Trigger guard coverage. Non-negotiable. The shell must fully enclose the trigger guard before the gun is in your waistband. This is the whole argument against carrying a 92FS loose in your belt.

We do not make a dedicated tuckable shell for the 92 family, so that kit is the route.
Appendix Carry Setup
Appendix carry works on a 92FS, but it takes more deliberate setup than it does on a compact gun, because you are hiding a 5.4 inch grip and an 8.5 inch slide in front of your hip.
Claw first. The Holster Claw Kit is the difference between a grip that prints and a grip that disappears. On this gun it is closer to mandatory than optional.
Ride height. Set the holster so the rear sight sits just below your belt line. Ride it higher and the grip tips outward. Ride it much lower and the muzzle digs in when you sit.
Cant. Start at about 10 to 15 degrees forward. That angle lays the grip flatter against your abdomen and shortens the reach of the draw.
Belt. A 1.5 inch rigid belt, worn one notch tighter than you would for comfort. The claw only works if the belt gives it something firm to lever against.
Sitting. Test it in a car seat before you commit. Long muzzles at appendix are most noticeable seated, and moving the holster an inch toward 1 o'clock often solves it.
If appendix does not work for you on this gun, the honest answer is to move back to 3 or 4 o'clock rather than fight it. A full size steel-framed gun at 4 o'clock with a forward cant conceals very well under an untucked shirt.
Optics, Threaded Barrels And Lights
Optics. Every Kydex holster we build is optic cut, so an optic-equipped M9A4 needs no different shell and no separate decision at checkout. The M9A4 is the 90-Series gun designed for a slide-mounted dot, and its dedicated IWB shell also accommodates suppressor height sights.
Threaded barrels. Our 92FS, M9, M9A4 and 92 Compact shells are all built with an over-cut open face to accommodate threaded barrels, which matters because the M9A3 ships threaded from the factory. You do not need a different holster for a threaded 92, and you do not need to remove the thread protector to reholster.
Weapon lights. Here is the honest gap: we do not make a light bearing shell for the 92FS or the M9 family. Our LUX V2 EXT universal light bearing holsters are molded to the light rather than the gun, and their published fit lists cover the Beretta APX and PX4, not the 92. If you run a light on the rail of an M9A1, M9A3 or M9A4, we do not currently have a holster for that configuration, and we would rather say so than sell you a shell that will not close.
