Best Glock 48 Holster: IWB and OWB Buyer's Guide

June 01, 2026 9 min read

The best Glock 48 holster for most carriers is the Rounded Gear IWB Holster for the Glock 48, from $44.95. It is our best selling Glock 48 holster, it is Claw Compatible, and the Kydex shell is rated for the Glock 48 and Glock 48 MOS. If you carry appendix with a spare magazine, step up to the Glock G48 Sidecar Holster, from $94.95.

The Quick List

Glock 48 Specs That Affect Holster Choice

These are Glock's published figures. Slide length and slide width decide which Kydex shell the gun seats in, because the shell wraps the slide and trigger guard. The grip sits outside the holster, and its height is what prints.

Spec Glock 48 Glock 43X Glock 19
Caliber 9mm 9mm 9mm
Capacity (standard) 10+1 10+1 15+1
Barrel Length 4.17 in 3.41 in 4.02 in
Slide Length 6.85 in 6.06 in 6.85 in
Overall Length 7.28 in 6.50 in 7.28 in
Slide Width 0.87 in 0.87 in 1.00 in
Overall Width 1.10 in 1.10 in 1.34 in
Height With Magazine 5.04 in 5.04 in 5.04 in

The Glock 48 is a Glock 19 length gun on a slimline frame. At 1.10 inches wide and 20.74 ounces with an empty magazine (25.12 ounces loaded), it hides inside the waistband more easily than a 1.34 inch Glock 19. The 5.04 inch grip is the same height as the 43X and the 19, and it is the part that prints, which is why a concealment claw matters.

Glock 48, 48 MOS, 43X and 19: Which Holster?

One shell covers the Glock 48 and the Glock 48 MOS. Our Glock 48 IWB, Tuckable, Plus Line, Paddle, OWB, DRUID 2.0, Sidecar and Athletic Wear holsters all carry the same fitment data, and each is rated for exactly two models:

  • Glock 48
  • Glock 48 MOS

A Glock 43X holster is too short. The 48 shares the 43X grip and the 0.87 inch slide width, but its slide is 0.79 inches longer, so a 43X shell does not cover it. Our 43X shells are rated for the Glock 43, 43X and 43X MOS, not the 48.

A Glock 19 holster is too wide. The 48 and the 19 share a 6.85 inch slide length, but the 48 slide is 0.13 inches narrower. Our Glock 19 shells are rated for the Glock 19, 19 MOS, 19X, 23, 32, 45 and 45 MOS. The 48 is not on that list.

Two products do cross over. The Trigger Guard Holster for the Glock 43X, 43 and 48 covers only the trigger guard, so it is rated for the Glock 43, 43X, 43X MOS, 48 and 48 MOS. Our light-bearing TLR-7 Sub holsters are rated for the same five models with a Streamlight TLR-7 Sub mounted.

What Actually Matters When Buying

  • A shell molded to the Glock 48. The 48 slide is Glock 19 length but slimline width. A shell molded for either of its cousins will not hold it properly.
  • Full trigger guard coverage. Non-negotiable on a gun with no manual safety. Every holster in this guide covers the trigger guard.
  • Adjustable retention. You should be able to set how hard the gun clicks in and how much pull it takes to draw.
  • Cant and ride height. What works at 4 o'clock does not work at 1 o'clock. Adjustable cant lets one holster follow you as your carry position changes.
  • A real gun belt. A loaded 48 is about 25 ounces, enough to sag a dress belt. The Ultimate Concealed Carry Leather Gun Belt ($69.99) is 1.5 inches and 14 oz leather.

IWB vs OWB for the Glock 48

Factor IWB OWB
Concealment Excellent. A 1.10 inch wide gun hides under a t-shirt with a claw. Fair. Needs an untucked shirt or jacket.
Comfort Good on a stiff belt, after a short break-in. The slim slide helps. Excellent. Nothing inside the waistband.
Draw Speed Good, once you practice clearing the garment. Faster.
Wardrobe Impact Some carriers size up pants by one waist size. None.
Best For Daily carry, year round. Range, training, open carry, winter carry.

Appendix Carry Setup

  • Fix the grip print first. The 5.04 inch grip is what shows. Use a Claw Compatible holster with the Holster Claw Kit, the Plus Line with its claw installed, or the sidecar, whose magazine pouch does the same job.
  • Mind the muzzle length. The 48 is 0.78 inches longer overall than a 43X, so the muzzle reaches further toward your hip crease. Ride height and a slight cant usually solve it.
  • Use a stiff belt. Appendix carry puts all the weight forward. A 1.5 inch gun belt keeps the holster from tipping.
  • Check it seated. Sit in your car and at a desk before you commit. Most adjustment problems only show up sitting down.

Optics, Lights and the MOS

Every Kydex holster we build for the Glock 48 is optic cut, so an optic-equipped Glock 48 needs no different shell and no separate decision at checkout. The 48 MOS has the same slide length and width as the standard 48, and our fitment data rates the same shell for both.

A weapon light is the one real variant. A mounted light changes the outline of the gun, so it needs a light-bearing shell. Pick the shell for your light: Streamlight TLR-7 Sub, Olight Baldr S and Baldr Mini, or Olight PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie. Without a light, use any of the standard picks above. We do not currently list a Glock 48 holster for the Streamlight TLR-6.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Glock 48 a Good Concealed Carry Gun?

Yes. Glock lists the 48 at 1.10 inches wide with a 0.87 inch slide, slimmer than the 1.34 inch Glock 19, while keeping a 4.17 inch barrel and the same 7.28 inch length. The trade is capacity: 10+1 from the factory magazine. A Kydex IWB holster molded for the 48 keeps that slim slide tight to your body.

Are Glock 19 and 45 Holsters the Same?

Yes. Our Glock 19 shells are rated for the Glock 19 (Gen 1-6, V), 19 MOS (Gen 4-5), 19X (Gen 5, V), 23 (Gen 2-4), 32 (Gen 2-4), 45 (Gen 5-6, V) and 45 MOS (Gen 5). The Glock 48 is not on that list: it shares the slide length, but its slide is 0.13 inches narrower, so it takes its own shell.

What Is the Best IWB Holster for a Glock 19?

Our best selling choice is the IWB Holster for the Glock 19, from $44.95: adjustable cant and retention, Claw Compatible and optic cut. If you carry a Glock 48 instead, its narrower slide needs the IWB Holster for the Glock 48, also from $44.95, which is rated for the Glock 48 and Glock 48 MOS.

What Is Mexican Carry?

Mexican carry means tucking a gun into your waistband with no holster. It is unsafe: the trigger is exposed, the gun can shift or fall, and nothing holds it in place on the draw. If you want the least bulk possible on a Glock 48, our Kydex trigger guard holster covers the trigger for $36.95.

What Does Israeli Carry Mean?

Israeli carry means carrying with an empty chamber and racking the slide as you draw, a method long taught by Israeli forces. It is slower and needs both hands, so most US instructors teach carrying chambered in a holster that fully covers the trigger guard. Every Glock 48 holster we make covers the trigger guard.

How We Chose

These are our own holsters, so we say that plainly. We ranked them by what Glock 48 owners actually buy from us, checked every pick against our live catalog and our fitment data, and left out anything we no longer sell. Gun specs come from Glock's published figures. Every holster here is molded in Jacksonville, Florida and backed by our lifetime guarantee.
